Our Opening Sequence - 'Double Edge'

Audience Feedback

Although the feedback we got from our teachers and fellow media students was helpful, we needed some audience feedback of the finished product. Therefore we held a screening of our opening (and 'caught in the web' by Amelia, Holly and Laura)in the media block today at lunch. As the target audience for their opening and ours was people around our own age we asked all our friends to come and publicised it via facebook. Loads of people turned up and filled out a short questionairre for use so the feedback was ordered and we could see trends clearly.

Feedback

Just before finishing out film we had a feedback session with the other members of our media class. This was good as they were our target audience. They gave us useful feedback, but because they are media students they were picking up on all the technical things, rather than thinknig about whether they enjoyed it or not, whether it appealed to them and if they would want to watch the whole thing. We made the changes that our class and our teachers suggested, but we realised that we needed to get some real audience feedback from non media students so we could really get an opinion on our opening.

To do list

We found the feedback very useful and decided to work on making it better straight away.

To do List:
Add in knock on the door
Lower Sians groan
Edit smoking section
Regulate sound levels
Add in titles
Contrast levels

We also are in need of a title, we have a few names in mind but nothing that seems to scream 'amazing!'

Once we have finished doing our little tweaks, we will screen it and see what our fellow friends think of it.

Teacher Feedback

During our after school session on Thursday we decided to recieve feedback from one of our teachers on the progress of our sequence so far.
Thursday feedback- THR

POSITIVE
It is tightly cut
The transition between the hostage videos are very well done
The change in music fits the mood & our actress’ change in emotion
Sian’s POV shot
Lighting on the cigarette shots were very good
Font & colour are nice

NEGATIVE
Bekah is looking at the top camera
Lower the music slightly
Lower Sian’s groan
Adam’s POV looks a bit out of place
Cut down some of the ghosting
Cut down cigarette section

Friday feedback- BLK

POSITIVE
Smoking looks effective
Take away ghost effect on part of the cigarette footage

NEGATIVE
Cross-cutting too quickly, fad up slowly onto Adam
Make the walking longer, at the moment its too rushed
Extend the beginning sequence
Wiping eyes- ghosting it
Dialogue is a bit drowned
Cut to the lighting of the cigarette
Cut to close-up
Fade out title

Music

We were finding it very difficult to find a piece of music that fitted in well enough for the beginning of our sequence, however fortunately on thursday me & Tom sat down and looked through a wide range of songs and found one that worked. We waited until we had an editing session with Hannah so we could assure the whole group agreed on it and then added it to the sequence. It sounds good and specific parts of the music fit in really well with the actions in the frame.

Overall, we think our project is going really well and we are satisfied with how it is looking. Although we have a few tweaks we are certain it'll be finished before our given deadline.

We're back from our Chistmas break, and straight into editing again because we have less than a week now to complete our sequence :S

It's looking good but we are have trouble finding music for the first bit, so have spent a lot of our time scanning websites such as freeplaymusic.com
